Job Overview:
The Information Systems Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the ASYCUDA Programme by acting as a focal point for user requests and providing essential technical support for hardware and software systems. The incumbent will be responsible for installing application systems software and hardware, assisting in the planning and development of customized software systems, and maintaining regular contact with users to ensure their needs are met. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to staying updated on new technologies relevant to customs and international trade digitalization. The role also involves data collection and analysis, contributing to decision-making processes, and preparing reports for information sharing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Information Systems Assistant include: acting as the primary contact for user requests; providing basic technical support for hardware and software systems; installing application systems software and hardware; assisting in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of customized application software systems; supporting senior staff in the creation and maintenance of software applications; preparing technical and user documentation; conducting research on new technologies; maintaining regular contact with users and technical staff; assisting with data collection and analysis; and performing other related duties as required. The role demands a high level of professionalism, teamwork, and technological awareness to effectively support the ASYCUDA Programme.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of five years of experience in information systems analysis, programming, systems administration, software development, or technical writing is required. This experience can be reduced to three years with a first university degree. Desirable qualifications include at least one year of experience in data analytics and experience working in an automated customs environment or supporting UN technical cooperation programmes. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills and the ability to provide user support effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma or equivalent. A first university degree is preferred and can reduce the required years of experience. The focus should be on fields related to information systems, computer science, or a related area that supports the technical requirements of the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in areas such as information systems analysis, programming, systems administration, and software development. This requirement can be reduced to three years if the candidate holds a first university degree. Experience in data analytics or related fields is desirable, as is experience in an automated customs environment or with international organizations like the United Nations.

Languages:
English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level III in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, and proficiency in French is considered an asset, although not mandatory for this role.

This is a project-funded temporary position initially available for six months, with the possibility of extension based on project continuation, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
