Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the overall project portfolio in Libya, particularly in enhancing national capacities for climate change adaptation and mitigation. This position requires close collaboration with government partners and various stakeholders to implement, monitor, and report on development projects. The coordinator will ensure that FAO's positioning in Libya is maintained and strengthened, contributing to climate-resilient development planning in accordance with established frameworks. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including the coordination of project activities, development of action plans, and regular reporting on progress to the project manager and FAO. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for ensuring that project outcomes meet the specified quality standards and are delivered within the agreed timeframes and budget constraints.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be tasked with coordinating the implementation of all project activities, which includes developing action plans and reporting progress to the project manager and FAO. They will ensure that the project produces the results specified in the Project Document, adhering to the required standards of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost. The coordinator will solicit participation from all concerned parties, contributors, beneficiaries, and relevant stakeholders in project implementation activities. Regular planning and progress reports will be prepared, identifying bottlenecks and suggesting corrective measures when necessary. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the project is executed in accordance with the Project Document and FAO guidelines for nationally executed projects. They will contribute to and/or prepare and submit the projects’ Work Plans and all other progress reports required by relevant FAO, donors, and beneficiaries. Additionally, the coordinator will review consultants’ reports based on the Terms of Reference and specifications, organize and facilitate training workshops and consultation meetings, prepare knowledge management materials, support communication activities, and maintain good working relationships with governments, donors, beneficiaries, and all other stakeholders. They will also carry out any other related tasks that may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in natural resource management, environmental sciences, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in project management, climate change, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security in agriculture, with a minimum of 4 years of experience specifically in Libya. A working knowledge of both Arabic and English is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in natural resource management, environmental sciences, or a related field from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of project management in the context of climate change and food security.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, specifically related to climate change and food security in agriculture. Out of these 5 years, at least 4 years must be spent working in Libya. This experience is crucial for understanding the local context and effectively managing projects that address the unique challenges faced in the region.

Languages:
Candidates must have a working knowledge of Arabic and English. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries involved in the projects. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not mandatory.
