Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women involves providing programmatic support to the effective management of initiatives under the Ending Violence against Women and Girls (EVAWG) pillar of the Gender Equality Accelerator Joint Programme. The role requires contributing to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of programs, ensuring alignment with UN Women’s strategic priorities and international standards. The Programme Analyst will analyze results achieved during program implementation and support the application of systems and procedures that strengthen survivor-centered, rights-based responses. Collaboration with various stakeholders, including government officials and civil society, is essential for successful program implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will be responsible for several key duties, including: 1) Contributing to the development of program strategies related to EVAWG, providing technical inputs to program/project proposals; 2) Supporting the implementation and management of EVAWG thematic areas, including coordinating annual work plans and budgets; 3) Providing technical assistance and capacity development support to project partners; 4) Monitoring and reporting on program activities, results, and indicators; 5) Managing people and finances related to the EVAWG program, including budget monitoring and revisions; 6) Building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies; 7) Supporting inter-agency coordination on EVAWG; 8) Contributing to advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts related to EVAWG.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in gender, development, public policy, human rights, management, social sciences, or related fields. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, as well as knowledge of Results Based Management and the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as gender studies, development, public policy, human rights, management, or social sciences. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification is a plus, indicating a formal recognition of skills in managing projects effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have at least one year of relevant work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Additionally, at least one year of experience in gender equality, violence against women, or related areas is required. Experience in monitoring program implementation, preparing reports, and applying survivor-centered approaches is essential. Familiarity with international organizations, UN agencies, or EU-funded projects is desirable, particularly in multi-partner or joint program settings.
Languages: Fluency in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and English is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders in the region.
