Job Overview: The position of Clerical Support for Humanitarian Assistance is crucial in providing day-to-day clerical support in the implementation of project activities aimed at responding to migration challenges in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Humanitarian Assistance Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Area Coordinator for Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM). The role involves supporting the protection of vulnerable migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees, ensuring compliance with IOM and donor financial regulations. The candidate will engage in various clerical duties, including vulnerability screening, information sharing, and liaising with other humanitarian actors to ensure comprehensive support for those in need. The position requires a proactive approach to communication and collaboration with officials and other stakeholders in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Clerical Support position include performing clerical tasks to support the protection of vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers, assisting in referrals to specialized institutions, and distributing non-food and food items. The candidate will also support vulnerability screening processes and provide tailored humanitarian assistance. Daily communication with officials from the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs is expected, along with the provision of first psychological aid when necessary. The role involves sharing relevant information about temporary reception facilities and ensuring coordination with other field actors to guarantee that no one is left behind. Compliance with the United Nations Department of Safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (UNDSS) and Operational Support Services (OSS) regulations is mandatory, and the candidate may be assigned additional tasks by the supervisor. All responsibilities must be carried out in strict adherence to IOM policies and guidelines, particularly those related to confidentiality and data protection.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess either a degree in related fields such as social studies, psychology, political science, international relations, or development studies with at least one year of professional experience, or a completed High School degree from an accredited institution with three years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. The role requires a strong commitment to the values of IOM, including respect for diversity, integrity, professionalism, and empathy.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes studies in social sciences, psychology, political science, international relations, or development studies. Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is required for this position, along with proficiency in one of the three official languages spoken in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Desirable additional languages include Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Pashtu, and other languages spoken by migrants. The proficiency in required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. This post is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Bosnia and Herzegovina will be considered.
