Job Overview: The position of Online Volunteer for the Visibility Campaign at Action Lab for Development involves supporting a 12-week initiative aimed at expanding the organization's digital presence and highlighting its work in innovation, skills development, and economic empowerment. Volunteers will work closely with the Communications Team to amplify posts, share content across their networks, and engage with a growing audience on social media platforms. The campaign aims to reach new communities, strengthen engagement, and showcase inspiring stories of change, particularly focusing on youth, educators, and grassroots changemakers. Volunteers will also help promote MoralityCode, an application developed under Action Lab for Development that embodies the union of ethical innovation and technological precision. This role provides an opportunity for hands-on experience in digital advocacy, nonprofit communication, and online community-building, making it an enriching experience for those interested in social impact and digital engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Online Volunteers include engaging with Action Lab for Development's social media posts by sharing, liking, commenting, tagging, and inviting others to participate. Volunteers are expected to share at least three posts per week on their personal social media accounts, which may include platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter/X. They will use provided captions or adapt them to fit their audience, ensuring to include clear calls-to-action in their posts. Volunteers will also be responsible for posting content in relevant groups on social media platforms and translating or localizing content into local languages if possible. At the end of the campaign, volunteers will submit a short activity report using a provided template to summarize their contributions and engagement throughout the campaign.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Online Volunteer position include a strong interest in digital advocacy, nonprofit communication, and community engagement. Volunteers should possess good communication skills, both written and verbal, and have a basic understanding of social media platforms and their functionalities. Familiarity with content sharing and engagement strategies is beneficial. Volunteers should be proactive, creative, and willing to collaborate with the Communications Team to achieve the campaign's goals. Experience: The level of experience needed for the Online Volunteer position is not strictly defined, as the role is open to individuals who are enthusiastic about contributing to social impact initiatives. However, prior experience in social media engagement, digital marketing, or volunteer work in nonprofit organizations would be advantageous. The organization welcomes volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including students, recent graduates, and individuals looking to gain experience in the nonprofit sector.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, as all communications and content will primarily be in English. However, it is considered a plus if volunteers can translate or localize content into local languages, which would enhance the campaign's reach and effectiveness in engaging diverse communities.
Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position, and as such, it does not offer financial compensation. However, volunteers will receive a certificate of appreciation from Action Lab for Development upon successful completion of the campaign, recognizing their contributions. The role is remote, allowing volunteers to participate from anywhere, and it provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital advocacy and nonprofit communication.
