Job Overview:
The Programme Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the Programme Team in developing and implementing effective programs in line with UN Women’s rules and regulations. This position involves contributing to research, financial management, and program implementation, providing necessary operational, administrative, and programmatic support. The Programme Associate will work closely with operations and program staff to resolve complex finance-related issues and facilitate the exchange of information. The role requires a proactive approach to ensure that programs are managed efficiently and effectively, aligning with UN Women’s mission to empower women and promote gender equality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the formulation and management of programs, including preparation of work plans, budgets, and proposals.
  • Offer technical guidance to the program team and executing agencies on routine delivery and reporting of program activities and finances.
  • Prepare information for audits and support the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Review program data and compile information for documents, guidelines, speeches, and position papers.
  • Support financial management by creating projects in the Quantum system, preparing budget revisions, and monitoring budget preparation.
  • Review financial reports and process payments for consultants.
  • Undertake logistical and administrative arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events.
  • Make travel arrangements for the Programme Team and prepare public information materials.
  • Assist in resource mobilization efforts by preparing agreements and processing information from donors. 1
  • Facilitate knowledge building and sharing by supporting training for office staff and partners on program and operations-related issues. 1
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong administrative and organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in financial management and familiarity with program implementation processes are essential. The candidate should demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. A strong commitment to gender equality and sensitivity to gender issues is crucial. The candidate should also be adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks effectively.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in business administration, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in project management or financial management would be advantageous. Knowledge of UN Women’s policies and procedures is a plus.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in program administration, financial management, or a related field. Experience working in an international organization or within the UN system is highly desirable. Familiarity with gender issues and a commitment to promoting gender equality are essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Bengali is mandatory, and proficiency in English is required as it is the working language of UN Agencies. Knowledge of another official UN language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable and would be considered an asset.

This position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, which is the capital and largest city of the country. The living conditions in Dhaka are modernizing, with good medical, dental, and educational services available for internationals. The role is a full-time position, and the candidate should be prepared to engage in a dynamic work environment that supports the mission of UN Women. The position may involve some travel within the country for program-related activities.
