Job Overview:
The AL Project Manager position is crucial for supporting the Atlas Logistique teams in the operational planning, implementation, and monitoring of HI/AL’s operational strategy. This role encompasses the storage and transportation components of the project, as well as capacity building. The Project Manager will work closely with various departments to ensure that the project is executed effectively and meets the established objectives. The position requires a proactive approach to managing project activities, ensuring compliance with internal standards, and fostering collaboration among team members and stakeholders. The Project Manager will also be responsible for data management, reporting, and maintaining high-quality standards throughout the project lifecycle. This role is particularly significant given the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where the need for effective logistics and support services is critical to the success of humanitarian efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the AL Project Manager include:
  • Operational Implementation: - Ensure project implementation in collaboration with relevant departments, adhering to standards and procedures. - Plan activities and establish action plans, including budget forecasts and follow-ups. - Manage expenditures and ensure activities align with project reference documents and allocated budgets. - Propose adjustments or improvements to meet objectives and ensure compliance with institutional policies. - Coordinate with internal services, including logistics, HR, finance, and technical departments. - Manage project data collection and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Expertise in Logistics Services: - Ensure compliance with technical and operational frameworks for storage and transport services. - Monitor and improve storage tools and processes, providing technical training to project staff and partners as needed. - Ensure quality and relevance of project activities and maintain relationships with partner organizations.
  • Management: - Lead and manage the Atlas Logistique team, setting objectives and assessing performance. - Organize regular team meetings and manage recruitment processes. - Ensure adherence to internal regulations by the project team.
  • Influence & Communication: - Represent HI/AL in coordination bodies and contribute to external influence through participation in relevant networks. - Communicate project developments to partners and stakeholders.
  • Strategy & Business Development: - Provide input for the design of the overall operational strategy and contribute to project proposals for continuity or expansion.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the AL Project Manager position should possess the following qualifications: - A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, particularly in volatile security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security contexts. - Proven experience in logistics programming within an NGO setting. - Strong project management skills, including administration, budgeting, reporting, and team management. - Proficiency in managing documentary and information flows related to stock management. - A patient, creative, and collaborative approach to teamwork is essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a relevant educational background that supports their ability to manage projects effectively. This may include degrees in fields such as logistics, humanitarian studies, international relations, or related disciplines. Advanced degrees or specialized training in project management or humanitarian logistics would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, with a strong emphasis on working in challenging and volatile contexts. Experience in logistics programming within an NGO is essential, as well as demonstrated skills in managing budgets, reporting, and team dynamics. The ability to navigate complex environments and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with external stakeholders. Knowledge of Arabic would be considered an asset, given the location of the position and the local context in Sudan. Additional languages may also be beneficial, depending on the specific needs of the project and the team.

Additional Notes:
This position is an unaccompanied role with a 6-month international contract starting from April 1, 2026, based in Tawila/Geneina, Sudan. The contract includes social coverage tailored to the employee's situation, such as unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The salary starts at 2,440 € gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a net monthly per diem of 738 €, a hardship allowance of 500 € net per month, 25 days of paid leave per year, and a rest and recuperation (R&R) period of 5 days every 8 weeks. Housing will be collectively provided by HI, and if the candidate is a resident in the country, a local package will be offered.
