Job Overview:
The Livelihoods and Food Security Project Officer will play a crucial role in implementing and managing projects aimed at enhancing food security and livelihoods for vulnerable communities in the Amhara region of Ethiopia. This position requires a proactive approach to monitor and report on project activities, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and the needs of beneficiaries. The officer will be responsible for providing technical advice and training on income-generating activities, facilitating community mobilization, and ensuring that all segments of the population, including marginalized groups, are included in project activities. The role also involves regular monitoring and evaluation of project performance, contributing to the overall success of the organization's interventions in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: monitoring and reporting on project activities, ensuring compliance with plans and standards; identifying and suggesting new methods to improve project quality; managing documentation and data collection; providing technical advice and training to beneficiaries; liaising with local authorities and partners; empowering communities to manage their own issues; ensuring equal participation in project activities; conducting regular evaluations of project performance; preparing and submitting reports; managing financial accountability for project activities; and representing the organization in relevant meetings. The officer will also be involved in stakeholder analysis and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BSc degree in Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or other related fields. A minimum of three years of experience working as a project officer in a humanitarian or recovery context is required. Previous experience in complex and volatile environments is essential, along with documented results related to the responsibilities of the position. Knowledge of English is mandatory, and proficiency in local languages is an advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or other agricultural-related disciplines. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of livelihoods and food security issues in the context of humanitarian assistance.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in project management within humanitarian or recovery settings. Candidates should have a proven track record of working effectively in challenging environments and demonstrating results related to the responsibilities outlined in the job description. Experience in managing livelihoods and food security projects is particularly valuable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for reporting purposes.
