Job Overview: The Education Assistant position is crucial for the effective implementation and monitoring of educational activities within the NRC Education Programme in Libya. This role involves supporting the registration and attendance of participants, assisting with monitoring visits, and providing essential administrative and logistical support to the Education team. The Education Assistant will work closely with the Education Officer to ensure that all activities are conducted smoothly and in compliance with NRC standards. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining organized data, supporting safe and inclusive learning environments, and ensuring the continuity of educational programme activities. The Education Assistant will also play a vital role in fostering community engagement and ensuring that the educational needs of children and youth are met.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the implementation of Education and Youth activities. Key duties include ensuring accurate participant registration, tracking attendance, and maintaining organized documentation. The role involves assisting with field-level monitoring, preparing activities, coordinating with participants, and fulfilling basic reporting needs. The Education Assistant will ensure adherence to NRC policies, guidelines, and quality standards in all Education and Youth activities. Responsibilities also include supporting logistical arrangements for activity implementation, assisting in monitoring and data collection, and maintaining proper archiving of programme documents. The Education Assistant will communicate effectively with participants and local stakeholders, and carry out any other related tasks as assigned by the Education Officer or Education Coordinator. Specific responsibilities include supporting accurate registration of learners, ensuring attendance sheets are filled correctly, preparing and maintaining records, accompanying staff during monitoring visits, and providing logistical support for learning sessions and workshops.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in education, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field. A minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth, education, or vocational training projects is required. Previous experience in complex or volatile contexts is essential. Strong documentation, reporting, and analytical skills are necessary, along with fluency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken). Knowledge of NGO operations, humanitarian principles, and donor compliance is important. Experience in community mobilization and participatory training facilitation is also required, as well as knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and SIPR principles. Candidates should have completed or be willing to complete SIP Basic Training, Safeguarding Essentials, and Referral SOP orientation.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as education, Social Sciences, or Management. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices related to education and youth programming.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 1 year of experience working directly with Education and Youth programs. Experience in complex or volatile contexts is highly valued, as well as familiarity with the challenges faced by refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities. Candidates should also have experience in inter-agency coordination and capacity-building initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to NRC’s values of safety, inclusion, and accountability.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, both written and spoken. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with participants, community members, and local stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

The Education Assistant will be expected to adhere to NRC’s safeguarding, child protection, inclusion, and gender-sensitive standards throughout all stages of programme delivery.
