Job Overview:
The HR Internship at UNDP Bangladesh is designed to provide practical exposure to human resources management within a dynamic international development organization. Interns will work closely with experienced HR professionals and gain hands-on experience in various HR functions, including recruitment, learning and development, employee engagement, and people analytics. This internship is structured as a learning-focused experience, making it ideal for students and recent graduates interested in HR, organizational development, and people management in a development context. Interns will contribute meaningfully to UNDP’s people-focused initiatives and will have the opportunity to learn about the implementation of UNDP’s People Strategy 2030.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will assist in delivering a variety of tasks under the guidance of the Head of HR. Key functions include:
  • Recruitment and Staffing Support: Preparing and coordinating vacancy announcements, assisting with shortlisting processes, maintaining recruitment tracking tools, and organizing interviews.
  • HR Administration and Operational Support: Maintaining HR files, assisting in onboarding processes, and supporting contract administration activities.
  • Supporting the People 2030 Committee and Employee Engagement Initiatives: Coordinating internal learning initiatives, tracking staff participation in learning programs, and assisting in the implementation of the UNDP Employee Engagement Survey.
  • HR Data Management, Reporting, and Operational Support: Updating HR dashboards, supporting data validation in HR systems, and providing day-to-day operational support to the HR Unit. Interns will also perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in their final academic year or have graduated from a degree program (minimum Bachelor’s or equivalent) in Business Administration, International Business, Development Studies, or Management. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Fluency in English and Bengali is required, while prior work experience is not mandatory.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Business Administration, International Business, Development Studies, or Management is required for this internship position.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory for this internship, candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills and an interest in human resources and development issues. The internship is particularly suited for students or recent graduates looking to gain practical experience in HR within an international context.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bengali is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
The internship is structured for a minimum duration of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months. Interns may receive a stipend according to UNDP's Internship Policy, provided they are not financially supported by any institution or program. The stipend is intended to help cover basic daily expenses related to the internship. Interns are expected to work full-time, although flexibility is allowed for educational commitments. They are responsible for securing adequate medical insurance for the duration of the internship and must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan. Interns are not eligible for employment with UNDP during the internship period, and there is no expectation of employment following the internship.
