Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer - Health Policy Analyst position is designed to support the WHO country office in Jordan as it transitions from the Thirteenth to the Fourteenth General Programme of Work (GPW 14) for 2025-202
  • The role involves conducting policy analysis, developing policy briefs, and engaging with stakeholders to enhance health system governance in Jordan. The analyst will work closely with the Senior Health Advisor to identify key policy questions and develop strategies that bridge the gap between data producers and decision-makers. This position is crucial for aligning WHO’s efforts with national priorities and ensuring that health policies are effectively implemented to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The analyst will also document and report progress, maintaining a knowledge repository that captures lessons learned from the implementation process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: conducting policy analysis by mapping existing data sources in Jordan to identify opportunities for leveraging policy information; developing policy briefs in collaboration with the health advisor; conducting health system governance analysis to support government entities; performing stakeholder analysis related to health policy and governance; engaging stakeholders for policy dialogues; identifying key policy questions with mapped stakeholders and decision-makers; developing strategies to bridge the gap between data producers and decision-makers; preparing detailed reports and maintaining a knowledge repository to document the implementation process; and collaborating with technical officers to identify priority questions and themes for the national data-to-policy action plan.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess strong analytical skills, with a background in health policy, public health, or a related field. They should demonstrate the ability to conduct thorough policy analysis and engage effectively with stakeholders. Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with health system governance are essential. The ideal candidate should also exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances are also important.

Educational Background:
A degree in public health, health policy, social sciences, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) are preferred and may be advantageous for candidates applying for this position. Relevant certifications or training in health systems or policy analysis would also be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in health policy analysis, public health, or a related field. Experience working with governmental or international organizations, particularly in the context of health systems and governance, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the health landscape in Jordan or the Middle East region would be an asset.

Languages:
The official language of Jordan is Arabic, and proficiency in Arabic is mandatory for this position. English is widely spoken, especially in urban areas, and fluency in English is also required. Knowledge of additional languages such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish would be considered a plus, but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This position is a volunteer role under the UN system, and the selected candidate will receive a Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of USD 2664, along with annual and learning leaves, free medical and life insurance, and access to various learning platforms.
