Job Overview:
The Driver position at UN Women Tajikistan is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to the UN Women Programme Office and high-ranking UN officials. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, as well as an excellent understanding of protocol and security issues. The Driver will be responsible for transporting authorized personnel, delivering documents, and ensuring the safety and maintenance of the vehicle. Additionally, the Driver will support the office with basic administrative tasks, demonstrating a client-oriented approach and the ability to work with diverse individuals from various cultural backgrounds.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting UN Women personnel and facilitating VIP missions.
  • Deliver and collect mail and documents to/from government offices and UN offices.
  • Meet official personnel at the airport and assist with visa and customs formalities.
  • Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and take immediate actions in case of accidents.
  • Maintain daily vehicle logs and adhere to UN Women’s vehicle management policies.
  • Ensure the vehicle complies with security and safety standards.
  • Conduct timely minor repairs and arrange for major repairs as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of the vehicle.
  • Ensure availability of required documents and supplies in the vehicle. 1
  • Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and data entry as assigned by the Administrative team.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires completion of secondary education and a valid driver’s license. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant driving experience in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Basic computer skills are considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate excellent driving skills, knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and the ability to manage vehicle maintenance effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, which is a fundamental requirement for this position. A valid driver’s license is also mandatory to ensure compliance with driving regulations and safety standards.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess at least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. This experience should include a safe driving record and familiarity with the operational protocols of such environments. Experience in basic computer usage is advantageous but not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluency in Tajik and Russian is required for this position, as these are the primary languages used in the region. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within the international context of UN Women’s operations.
