Job Overview: The position within the Communications Department (COM) at the IMF is pivotal for shaping and executing the Fund's communication strategies. The officer will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies that enhance the IMF's media presence and social media engagement. This role requires a proactive approach to gather and analyze information that is critical for crafting effective messaging. The officer will work closely with various divisions within the IMF to ensure that communications are coherent and aligned with the institution's objectives. Duties and Responsibilities: The officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing and implementing media and social media outreach strategies; monitoring news and social media channels for relevant information; gathering and synthesizing information for press lines, talking points, press releases, and briefing materials; drafting, editing, and publishing social media content, including visual assets; coordinating with other departments to ensure message consistency; participating in the evaluation of outreach efforts; maintaining best practices in document management and record keeping; coordinating clearances and translations for message dissemination; and collaborating with other departments on communication issues involving a wide range of stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Communications, International Relations, Languages, or a related field. A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is required, or alternatively, two years of experience at Grade A06 or equivalent. Experience in journalism, media relations, or social media management is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate strong teamwork abilities, good judgment, and diplomacy in handling sensitive matters. Skills in negotiation and influencing, along with a collaborative working style, are essential. The ability to manage tight deadlines and overlapping requests is crucial, as is a proactive approach to problem-solving and resourcefulness.
Educational Background: A university degree in Communications, International Relations, Languages, or a related field is required. This educational background should be complemented by relevant work experience that demonstrates the candidate's ability to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in communications, media relations, or social media management. Alternatively, candidates with two years of relevant experience at Grade A06 or equivalent will also be considered. Experience in journalism or related fields is a significant advantage, as it provides the necessary skills for effective communication and outreach.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish, is considered an advantage. The ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages enhances the candidate's capability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This position is a one-year contractual appointment, with the possibility of renewal for up to four years based on performance, budget availability, and ongoing business needs.
