Job Overview:
The Sr. Director, International Financial Institutions will play a pivotal role in coordinating WWF’s global strategy for engaging with international financial institutions (IFIs) to enhance their investment in nature. This position is crucial for identifying and facilitating partnership opportunities with IFIs based in Washington, DC, and for designing strategies to engage ministries of finance to advance WWF’s objectives related to nature and climate. The role requires close collaboration with various WWF teams, including the Public Sector Partnership unit and the Global Finance Practice, ensuring that WWF’s initiatives align with its core strategies and priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Director include leading strategic relationships with Washington-based international financial institutions to support WWF’s strategic priorities. This involves working closely with WWF’s Goal Teams and the Nature Finance and Investment team to identify and manage strategic partnership opportunities that drive Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) investments. The Sr. Director will also lead WWF’s engagement in the IMF/WB Spring and Annual meetings and implement the global policy engagement strategy for MDBs. This includes convening the MDB strategy steering committee, supporting individual MDB engagements, and driving the implementation of WWF’s global policy strategy across various MDBs such as the World Bank, IDB, ADB, AfDB, EBRD, EIB, and AIIB. Additionally, the Sr. Director will develop a network-wide strategy to build capacity in WWF offices for engaging with MDBs at the national level, support the development of strategies to elevate nature with key decision-makers, and identify emerging opportunities for WWF’s engagement in global and regional policy processes related to finance, nature, climate, and development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 10 years of relevant experience, complemented by an advanced degree in international environmental or finance policy, or macroeconomics. A strong network of relationships within Washington-based international financial institutions and ministries of finance is essential. Familiarity with the actors and institutions in the government, private sector, and civil society that focus on nature, climate, and finance is also required. Knowledge of IFI policies regarding nature and climate, as well as experience with business and non-governmental organizations active in the international financial institutions and development space, is crucial. Strong program management skills, including design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, people management, monitoring, and evaluation, are necessary, along with the ability to identify and evaluate strategies for WWF at various levels.

Educational Background:

Experience:
