Job Overview:

  • The candidate will be responsible for leading protection analysis and prioritization, strengthening area-based coordination, and ensuring the integration of humanitarian responses. The role involves advocating for protection-centered decision-making regarding displacement and returns, and supporting partners in navigating the complex operational environment. The volunteer will assist in information management, communication among cluster members, and capacity-building efforts, ensuring that the needs of vulnerable populations are prioritized in all planning and operational processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including assisting the Protection Cluster Coordinator with information management and communication among cluster members, maintaining close contact with OCHA for report collection, and ensuring liaison with thematic working groups. Responsibilities also include compiling and reviewing thematic information for monthly newsletters, collecting and analyzing protection data, organizing joint evaluation missions, coordinating the development of protection strategies, and ensuring legal assistance is accessible to persons of concern. The volunteer will maintain a protection presence through field missions, contribute to resource mobilization efforts, and design and deliver training on protection mainstreaming and advocacy. Additionally, the volunteer will draft essential documents for the cluster and convene meetings, ensuring that all activities align with the protection needs of affected populations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate integrity and professionalism, with a strong ability to apply good judgment and work independently in a politically sensitive environment. They should possess effective organizational and problem-solving skills, be able to manage a large volume of work efficiently, and establish priorities.
