Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator position is crucial for facilitating cooperation on multilateral development initiatives within China, particularly under the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund. The role involves liaising with government agencies and partners to promote these initiatives, ensuring effective internal communication with IOM country and regional offices, and supporting the development of project proposals that align with organizational standards. The Project Coordinator will also maintain regular communication with Chinese counterparts and relevant IOM offices to facilitate project implementation and assist in preparing project reporting documents. Additionally, the role includes collecting information on funding trends and contributing to internal knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities, making it essential for the candidate to have a strong understanding of the development landscape in China and the ability to navigate complex partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Liaise and coordinate with relevant government agencies and partners in China to promote cooperation on multilateral development initiatives.
  • Support internal coordination and communication with IOM country and regional offices and relevant divisions in HQ.
  • Develop project proposals and other documents in line with the requirements of relevant initiatives and organizational standards.
  • Maintain regular communication with Chinese counterparts and relevant IOM offices to facilitate project implementation.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reporting documents.
  • Collect information on funding trends and opportunities to support IOM regional office and HQ.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and capacity-building activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.
  • Proven experience in fundraising or partnerships development with multilateral donors.
  • Experience in preparing project proposals and concept notes.
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
  • Prior work experience with the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund is an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law. A Master’s degree in these fields is preferred and may substitute for some professional experience requirements.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, particularly in fundraising or partnerships development with multilateral donors. Candidates should have experience in preparing project proposals and concept notes, as well as liaising with governmental authorities and various institutions, including UN agencies and NGOs. Prior experience with the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund is considered an advantage.

Languages:
The position requires a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and fluency in English, both oral and written. Knowledge of additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered beneficial but not mandatory.

This position is full-time and may involve working under tight deadlines. The role is based in Beijing, China, and may require occasional travel within the country or to other regions as necessary.
