Job Overview: The PPH Fundraiser will work under the functional guidance of the Assistant PPH Officer and will play a crucial role in the development of the Private Philanthropy team. The primary focus will be on expanding UNHCR’s Major Donor pool in China. This includes formulating and executing a PPH strategy tailored to philanthropy and high-net-worth individual (HNWI) engagement within the Chinese market. The incumbent will lead the end-to-end development of the Major Donor programme, which encompasses donor acquisition strategies, pipeline building, and stewardship frameworks. The role requires identifying, qualifying, and cultivating prospective Major Donors who align with UNHCR’s priorities and the local philanthropic landscape. The selected candidate will take ownership of selected donor relationships throughout the entire donor lifecycle, from prospecting and cultivation to conversion and stewardship. Additionally, the role involves conducting market mapping and research to identify new donor segments and fundraising opportunities, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making, and refining donor development approaches. The PPH Fundraiser will also facilitate effective information management and knowledge sharing, assist with event logistics, and support the development of fundraising materials, ensuring compliance with UNHCR Due Diligence Procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The PPH Fundraiser will be responsible for a variety of duties, including: assisting in the formulation and execution of the PPH strategy specific to philanthropy and HNWI engagement; leading the development of the Major Donor programme in the China market; identifying and cultivating prospective Major Donors; managing selected donor relationships across the full donor lifecycle; conducting market mapping and research; providing insights and analysis for strategic decision-making; facilitating information management and knowledge sharing; assisting with logistics for internal and external events; developing pitches, presentations, proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials; maintaining accurate records of partnerships and donor interactions; supporting communication and visibility strategies for philanthropy and HNWI donors; ensuring compliance with UNHCR Due Diligence Procedures; enhancing UNHCR’s visibility; creating promotional materials for campaigns; collaborating with broader PSP market strategies; and undertaking other related duties as needed to support the team’s overarching goals.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a high school diploma as a minimum, with a preference for candidates who have completed a university degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, International Relations, Sociology, or a related discipline. Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience for those with a high school diploma, or 2 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Experience in corporate fundraising from UN agencies, international NGOs, or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is essential. Candidates should have excellent knowledge of UN procedures, particularly those of UNHCR, and be proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills in English are also required.
