Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst position is situated within the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Executive Director’s Office (EDO) of UN Women, which provides overall leadership and strategic direction to the organization. The role is crucial in supporting the Deputy Executive Directors (DEDs) and the Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) by facilitating coordination, communication, and substantive assistance. The Programme Analyst will contribute to the effective execution of management and representation duties, providing analytical and organizational support on strategic issues. This includes facilitating engagement with internal and external partners and ensuring efficient preparation and follow-up for meetings, missions, and corporate priorities. The position also involves supporting the secretariat functions for various governance bodies within UN Women, ensuring that discussions are strategic and that governance processes are effective and accountable.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including:
  • Providing internal coordination and technical support to the ASGs/DEDs, ensuring timely management of their agendas and quality control of briefing materials.
  • Assisting in the preparation of official travel files and background documents for the ASGs/DEDs, ensuring that missions are strategic and results-driven.
  • Supporting systematic follow-up to meetings and corporate initiatives, including preparing notes, summaries, and correspondence.
  • Managing UN Women’s governance bodies, ensuring they meet as planned and that discussions are strategic.
  • Quality assurance of all materials submitted to governance bodies and addressing challenges in real-time.
  • Supporting the management of global retreats and ensuring accurate maintenance of minutes and documents.
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as Gender equality issues, political affairs, international relations, social sciences, communications, or journalism. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have strong writing, organizational, and planning skills, as well as good research and analytical abilities. Familiarity with UN structure and values is considered an asset, and high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Gender equality issues, political affairs, international relations, social sciences, communications, or journalism. A first-level university degree may be accepted in combination with additional qualifying experience, demonstrating flexibility in educational requirements based on professional experience.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in internal and event coordination, partnerships, or a related field. Experience working in a front office is required, and experience supporting internal governance processes is desirable. Additionally, experience in partnerships related to gender equality and women’s empowerment is also considered beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and would enhance a candidate's profile.
