Job Overview: The Project Coordinator position is a critical role within UNESCO, focusing on the operational management of joint programs between UNESCO and the Whitaker Peace & Development Initiative (WPDI). The primary aim of these programs is to enhance the roles of youth and women in peacebuilding and sustainable development. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating various projects that promote peace and sustainable development across multiple regions. This role requires a strategic mindset to foster collaboration between WPDI and UNESCO's Social and Human Sciences Sector, ensuring that the initiatives align with the broader goals of both organizations. The Project Coordinator will also be tasked with enhancing communication strategies, organizing events, and supporting partnership development to maximize the impact of the programs.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including: a) Collaborating with WPDI and UNESCO to create synergies within the Social and Human Sciences Sector, ensuring effective participation in relevant events and campaigns. b) Coordinating the implementation and growth of peace and sustainable development projects across various regions, ensuring that they meet their objectives. c) Leading communication efforts to ensure that high-level messages from Forest Whitaker, as UNESCO Special Envoy, reflect the values of UNESCO and the SHS Sector. d) Assisting in the planning and execution of WPDI-led events, including high-profile gatherings such as the annual charity gala in New York. e) Supporting the partnership strategy by managing existing relationships and identifying new opportunities for collaboration. f) Providing administrative and program support to ensure smooth operations, including managing HR, financial, and legal aspects of program implementation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a relevant field such as project management, communications, international relations, political science, or other related social science disciplines. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to draft and edit documents professionally. Familiarity with communication tools and approaches for development is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment. Candidates should also exhibit strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office, Google Workspace, and design software such as Adobe XD and InDesign.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in areas pertinent to the role, such as project management, communications, international relations, political science, or other relevant social sciences.
