Job Overview:
The Consultant for Communications Strategy will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for OHCHR Mozambique. This position is essential for increasing the visibility of OHCHR's work both at the national and global levels. The consultant will be responsible for producing and disseminating public information and communication materials through various channels, ensuring that the OHCHR Mozambique webpage is regularly updated. The role requires a proactive approach to communication, with a focus on enhancing public awareness of human rights issues and the work of OHCHR in Mozambique.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will support the development and implementation of a communications strategy tailored to the needs of OHCHR Mozambique. Key responsibilities include tracking and analyzing information on assigned topics, producing outreach documents and communication products for various audiences, managing social media accounts, and organizing the production and distribution of information materials. The consultant will also identify strategic partnerships, organize events such as conferences and press briefings, and prepare briefing materials for senior officials. Additionally, the consultant will collect and analyze data to identify trends and provide insights through data visualization methods, contributing to data-driven planning and decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first degree in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or a related field. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, or a related area is required. Experience with a United Nations entity is desirable, as is experience working with a human rights organization. Familiarity with data analytics or related areas is also considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires a first degree in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and public information dissemination in the context of human rights.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields such as public information, journalism, or international relations. Experience with a United Nations entity or a human rights organization is highly desirable, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational and strategic frameworks of such organizations. Experience in data analytics or related areas will also be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Portuguese, both oral and written, is required for this position. This bilingual proficiency is crucial for effective communication with diverse stakeholders and for producing high-quality communication materials in both languages.
