Job Overview: The Education Officer position at UNICEF involves providing high-quality technical assistance and support to the Ministry of Education in Bangladesh, specifically targeting the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) and the Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics (BANBEIS). Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Programme Development and Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and plan educational programs that align with national goals.
Programme Management, Monitoring, and Delivery of Results: Oversee the implementation of educational programs, ensuring they meet objectives and deliver measurable results.
Networking and Partnership Building: Build and maintain partnerships with government entities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness.
Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Capacity Building: Foster innovation in educational practices and support capacity building initiatives within the education sector.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in education, social sciences, development studies, or relevant technical fields. A minimum of two years of professional experience in planning and managing secondary education system strengthening is required. Candidates should have a technical understanding of learning enhancement strategies, integrated remedial education, competency-based education, and climate change in education. Experience working with education authorities and proven experience in data systems and digital monitoring tools are essential. Familiarity with UNICEF’s HACT framework and partnership management is advantageous, as is experience in a UN system agency.
Educational Background: A university degree in education, social sciences, development studies, or other relevant technical fields is required for this position. Higher educational qualifications must be obtained from institutions accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in the field of secondary education system strengthening. Candidates should demonstrate technical understanding and experience in implementing educational strategies and working with government education authorities.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication and collaboration in diverse environments.
