Job Overview: The Consultant for Resource Mobilization will play a crucial role in supporting UN Women’s India Country Office in devising and executing a strategy for mobilizing resources from high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), family foundations, and philanthropies. This position is vital for enhancing the financial resources available for gender equality and women's empowerment initiatives. The consultant will work under the guidance of the Deputy Country Representative and will be responsible for developing a sustainable 5-year fundraising strategy, conducting market research to identify potential donors, and creating a segmented prospect roster. Additionally, the consultant will design a relationship cultivation plan to engage prospects effectively and plan strategic convenings to foster partnerships. The role requires a strong understanding of donor psychology, market research, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders to secure long-term partnerships.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake several key tasks, including:
Developing a sustainable 5-year fundraising strategy targeting HNWIs, family offices, and private foundations, articulating a clear value proposition for each segment.
Conducting market research to identify potential donors who align with UN Women’s values and creating a segmented prospect roster with detailed profiles on giving patterns and interests.
Designing a Relationship Cultivation Plan to move prospects from identification to partnership, including tailored engagement strategies such as one-on-one meetings and personalized impact reporting.
Planning and executing a small, closed-door convening as a pre-CSW71 strategic dialogue to engage potential major donors and corporate partners.
Conducting a workshop with UN Women staff on best practices for engaging with the private sector and HNWIs. Deliverables include a detailed work plan, a five-year strategy and action plan for resource mobilization, and convenings with HNWIs and capacity building for UN Women staff.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess demonstrated experience in fundraising and proposal writing, particularly in the social sector with a focus on HNWIs. Proficiency in donor psychology, market research, and wealth management is essential. The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively impact donor contributions and create compelling content for visibility and engagement. Strong networking, negotiation, and persuasion skills are necessary to secure donations and establish long-term partnerships with HNWIs. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to plan and execute high-profile events that create meaningful engagement opportunities for HNWIs.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Non-Profit Management, International Relations, Gender Studies, or a related field is preferred. Certifications in Fundraising (CFRE) or Nonprofit Management are optional but advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in fundraising, particularly focused on HNWIs or major donor engagement in the nonprofit sector, is required. The candidate should have a proven track record of designing and executing targeted fundraising campaigns and securing high-value donations from HNWIs and family offices. Experience in relationship management, including tailored pitches and high-touch engagement, is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English, including strong English writing skills, is required. Fluency in Hindi and/or another Indian language is also required. Knowledge of another UN official working language is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The consultant is expected to use their own computer equipment, as the office will not provide any. The evaluation and selection process will include an assessment of the required degree and qualifications, relevant experience, and working knowledge of gender issues. Selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks, including verification of academic credentials and employment history.
