Job Overview:
The Digital Health Specialist position at WHO India Country Office involves providing guidance on data governance, standards, and interoperability related to digital health solutions and artificial intelligence. The incumbent will support the development of integrated health information systems and provide technical assistance in digital health initiatives. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including government and non-government organizations, to enhance digital health literacy and promote the use of WHO's global digital health tools. The specialist will also be responsible for disseminating data-based information and facilitating knowledge sharing through meetings and workshops.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
  • Providing guidance on data governance and interoperability for digital health solutions.
  • Responding to requests related to country-specific data and digital interventions.
  • Supporting the development of robust health information systems.
  • Facilitating inter-programmatic support in digital health and artificial intelligence.
  • Developing innovative communication strategies for disseminating health data.
  • Acting as a liaison for technical questions related to health initiatives.
  • Building partnerships across organizations for investment in digital technologies.
  • Assisting in building national capacities for digital health literacy.
  • Promoting WHO's global digital health guidelines and tools. 1

  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in health sciences, public health, digital health, computer sciences, or a related field. An advanced qualification in public health informatics or health management information systems is desirable. WHO only considers higher educational qualifications from accredited institutions, ensuring that candidates meet the necessary educational standards.

Educational Background:
Essential educational requirements include a university degree in health sciences or public health with a focus on digital health or related fields. Desirable qualifications include advanced degrees in public health informatics or health management information systems, which would enhance the candidate's ability to perform in this role effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in implementing digital health initiatives, artificial intelligence, or health information systems. Desirable experience includes monitoring and evaluating health interventions and working with UN agencies or international organizations in digital transformation projects.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory, along with working knowledge of at least one other national language, which will be considered an asset for this position.

Additional Notes:
The monthly remuneration for this position is INR 218,855, taxable as per Indian laws. The appointment will be through a Special Services Agreement (SSA) and is extendable based on performance and the continuing need for the function. The position is based in New Delhi and may require extensive travel, potentially up to 15 days per month.
