Job Overview:
The Director - Health, India is tasked with developing and executing an integrated health strategy that aligns with national priorities and the Foundation's health goals. This role focuses on accelerating the uptake of innovations and achieving equitable improvements in health outcomes at scale. The Director will collaborate closely with the Government of India and state governments, particularly in priority states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, to enhance reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition, reduce infectious diseases, support immunization efforts, and strengthen primary health care systems. The position requires a collaborative approach, working with a multi-disciplinary strategy implementation team and integrating health strategies with digital health innovations and AI. The Director will also be responsible for establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, multilaterals, and philanthropic partners, to advance the Foundation's mission and impact.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director's responsibilities include formulating, adapting, and implementing comprehensive health plans that align with the Foundation's health strategy and programmatic goals. This involves leading the advancement of health strategies in accordance with Government of India priorities, focusing on Universal Health Coverage and the National Health Policy. The Director will conduct regular strategic reviews with government officials to assess progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement necessary adjustments to ensure successful outcomes. Additionally, the Director will drive implementation in priority states by piloting and scaling effective solutions, ensuring a high-quality portfolio of investments, and expanding access to affordable diagnostics and technologies. The role also entails enabling the integration of digital tools and platforms to enhance health systems and collaborating with domestic partners to strengthen disease surveillance and program management. The Director will represent the organization externally, fostering strategic partnerships and contributing to policy dialogues.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree, such as a Master's in public health, medicine, or related fields, with a PhD preferred. A minimum of 18 years of professional experience in global health organizations, particularly in India, is required. Candidates should have expertise in public health management and a proven ability to address complex public health challenges in collaboration with governments and NGOs. Strong leadership skills in low- and middle-income country contexts, along with a demonstrated ability to design and implement strategies for systemic change in health, are essential. Knowledge of public health principles in India, understanding of digital technologies, and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders are also critical qualifications.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced degree, preferably a Master's in public health, medicine, or a related field. A PhD is highly desirable, indicating a strong academic background and expertise in relevant areas of health and public policy.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 18 years of professional experience in global health organizations, with a significant portion of that experience in India. They must demonstrate expertise in public health management and a successful track record of executing solutions in partnership with various stakeholders, including government entities and NGOs. Experience in leading large, multidisciplinary teams and managing complex portfolios of investments is also necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the role requires communication with a broad audience. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the Indian context may be advantageous but is not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
This is a limited-term position for 24 months, and relocation assistance will not be provided.
