The webinars are designed to equip potential applicants with comprehensive knowledge about the guidelines and thematic areas of the Call for Solutions. The role requires interpreters to convey messages accurately and clearly from English to French, Spanish, or Portuguese, ensuring that the essence of the discussions is maintained. Volunteers will work closely with the UNDP Rome Centre’s Youth4Climate team, participating in three online sessions that aim to foster understanding and engagement among youth leaders in climate action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide simultaneous interpretation from English to the designated language (French, Spanish, or Portuguese) during the three Dive Deep Sessions.
Ensure the accuracy and clarity of the interpretation, particularly regarding the principles, objectives, and outcomes of the Y4C Call for Solutions.
Collaborate with the organizing team to grasp the session's flow and key points that require interpretation.
Coordinate with fellow interpreters and session organizers to facilitate effective communication across languages and sessions.
Attend preparatory meetings and training sessions as required to familiarize oneself with the content and context of the webinars.
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality throughout the interpretation process.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in English and the target language (French, Spanish, or Portuguese) is mandatory.
Previous experience in interpretation or translation is preferred.
Strong understanding of climate action and youth engagement issues is an asset.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and accurately.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to dynamic situations during live sessions.
Educational Background: A background in languages, communications, environmental studies, or a related field is preferred.
