Job Overview:
The Program Manager for Lead Exposure Reduction will lead key analytical and operational workstreams, supporting the design, planning, and execution of multi-country or country-specific projects aimed at reducing lead exposure. This includes accelerating access to blood lead level diagnostics, developing market-based interventions to promote safer pigments, and increasing access to portable environmental testing equipment. The role also involves supporting nationally-driven coordination mechanisms and strategic plans for lead mitigation, conducting complex quantitative and qualitative analyses, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for governments and stakeholders. The Program Manager will engage with various stakeholders, including country teams, academic partners, and civil society, to strengthen national action plans and regulatory frameworks. Additionally, the position requires managing and mentoring a small team, overseeing project budgets, and collaborating with other CHAI teams to integrate lead exposure reduction into broader public health initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead key analytical and operational workstreams for projects aimed at reducing lead exposure.
  • Support the design, planning, and execution of multi-country or country-specific projects.
  • Accelerate access to blood lead level diagnostics and develop market-based interventions for safer pigments.
  • Increase access to portable environmental testing equipment for country-level data generation.
  • Support nationally-driven coordination mechanisms and national strategic plans for lead mitigation.
  • Conduct and oversee complex quantitative and qualitative analyses, including market assessments and cost-effectiveness modeling.
  • Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations for governments and stakeholders.
  • Build and manage relationships with country teams, academic partners, and civil society.
  • Support the development of national action plans and regulatory frameworks. 1
  • Manage and mentor a small team, delegating workstreams and reviewing deliverables. 1
  • Monitor project execution against budgets and donor commitments. 1
  • Collaborate with other CHAI teams to integrate lead exposure reduction into public health initiatives. 1
  • Stay updated on emerging evidence and global strategies related to lead poisoning prevention.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 1 year in project management or program execution in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
  • Experience in fast-paced, results-oriented environments such as management consulting or investment banking.
  • Highly proficient project management skills with the ability to lead complex analytical workstreams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with government and external partners.
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills, including presentation and report preparation.
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel 15-25%. 1

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Public Policy, Economics, Public Health, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or Business. A Master’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in public health and environmental health issues.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience, which includes a minimum of 1 year in project management or program execution specifically in low- and middle-income countries. Experience in fast-paced, results-oriented environments is highly valued, as it demonstrates the ability to work effectively under pressure and achieve results.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Additionally, fluency in a second language relevant to CHAI program countries, such as Hindi, French, Swahili, Amharic, or Yoruba, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
