Job Overview:
The contractor will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of a project titled 'Enhancing Regional and Global Value Chain Participation of Central Asian Countries to Support Sustainable Development in the Digital Era.' This project is funded by the Russian Federation and aims to enhance trade facilitation and promote intra-regional cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries. The contractor will work closely with project officers and the Chief of Trade Policy and Facilitation Section to deliver various activities related to the project. The role involves preparing trade briefs, drafting knowledge products, ensuring consistency in programming codes for trade databases, and finalizing tools developed under the project. Additionally, the contractor will conduct research to develop new techniques and features for existing tools, support training material development, and assist in preparing project reports and evaluations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The contractor's duties include supporting the preparation of trade briefs, providing drafting inputs for knowledge products, ensuring consistency in programming codes behind existing trade databases, and finalizing databases and tools developed under the project. They will also support the delivery of training materials, prepare the project's termination report and evaluation, and conduct research for developing new techniques for trade analysis. Furthermore, the contractor will research potential features for the existing value chain integration tool and integrate automated features into the digital integration tool. They will be responsible for delivering materials and managing application services to build capacity in digital trade for targeted countries in North Central Asia and APTA.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master's degree or higher in economics, international economics, or development economics. Candidates should have academic or research experience in economics and development, along with at least three years of experience in data analysis, programming, and database management specifically for economic and trade policy research in Asian countries. Strong data-analysis skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Excel and programming languages such as R and/or Python for data analysis.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or higher in economics, international economics, or development economics is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for understanding trade policies and economic development issues relevant to the project.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in data analysis, programming, and database management.
