Job Overview:
The position of Research Officer/Data Management is crucial for the implementation of the Finance solution aimed at enhancing biodiversity financing through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs) in Nepal. The selected candidate will be responsible for facilitating the integration of CSR practices into financial institutions, ensuring that biodiversity considerations are incorporated into their operations. This role requires a strong understanding of data management and research methodologies, as the officer will be tasked with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to biodiversity financing. The position is expected to run from January 2026 to September 2026, during which the officer will work closely with various stakeholders to promote sustainable financial practices that benefit biodiversity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Research Officer/Data Management will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities including:
  • Conducting thorough research on biodiversity financing and CSR practices within the context of Nepal.
  • Collaborating with Banks and Financial Institutions to identify opportunities for integrating biodiversity considerations into their financial products and services.
  • Collecting and managing data related to biodiversity and CSR initiatives, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyzing data to provide insights and recommendations for enhancing biodiversity financing strategies.
  • Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and financial institutions.
  • Facilitating workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on the importance of biodiversity financing and CSR.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the impact of implemented strategies on biodiversity outcomes.
  • Engaging with local communities to gather feedback and insights on biodiversity issues and financing needs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in research and data management, with a focus on environmental issues, particularly biodiversity. A solid understanding of CSR practices and their application in the financial sector is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently is also required.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, finance, economics, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of biodiversity and financial systems.

Experience:
The position requires at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in research, data management, or a related field. Experience working with financial institutions or in the area of biodiversity financing is highly desirable. Candidates should have a proven track record of conducting research and managing data projects, as well as experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Nepali or other local languages would be considered an asset, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and communities.
