Job Overview:
The Individual Specialist position is crucial for supporting the implementation of UNESCO-led activities within the RESILIAGE project, which aims to enhance community resilience through innovative disaster risk management strategies. The role involves providing technical, coordination, and strategic support during the final implementation phase of this Horizon Europe project. The specialist will work closely with the Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office in Brussels and the Project Officer, ensuring that project deliverables align with UNESCO's mission and are effectively communicated at both EU and international levels. The position requires a proactive approach to community engagement, capacity building, and the dissemination of project results, contributing to the overall success of the RESILIAGE initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Individual Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Providing strategic inputs to community-based approaches integrated into preparedness and resilience plans within the project’s CORE Labs.
  • Contributing to the preparation of project deliverables such as preparedness plans and policy briefs, utilizing insights from RESILIAGE outcomes.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of capacity-building actions, including training-of-trainers initiatives and academic learning pathways.
  • Organizing knowledge-sharing activities, including webinars, to facilitate the exchange of information and best practices.
  • Assisting in the organization of the RESILIAGE Final Conference and ensuring effective dissemination and visibility of project results through various channels.
  • Submitting monthly progress reports detailing tasks performed, achievements, and challenges encountered during the consultancy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completed full-time advanced degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in natural sciences or a related field. Additionally, they should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in implementing EU research and innovation funded projects, with a strong background in policy analysis and stakeholder engagement strategies. Experience in developing training materials and organizing knowledge-sharing events is essential, along with proficiency in drafting project reports and technical briefs.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to have an advanced degree, specifically a Master's degree or equivalent, from a recognized university or institution in natural sciences or a closely related field. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of disaster risk reduction and resilience strategies that the role entails.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of professional experience in relevant fields, particularly in the implementation of EU-funded research and innovation projects. This experience should include a strong focus on policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building initiatives, demonstrating the ability to manage complex projects and deliver results effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders. While not mandatory, knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is part-time (50%) and is expected to last from February to August 2026, totaling 7 months.
