Job Overview:
The Economic Recovery Assistant for the SDACKED Project in Mandera is responsible for supporting the Economic Recovery Coordinator in providing technical expertise for a financial inclusion project funded by Sweden. This project is a collaboration between DRC, KCB Bank, KCB Foundation, and a digital financial technology company. The role involves day-to-day implementation of economic recovery activities, ensuring that project expectations are met, and undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager. The assistant will work closely with community members to promote financial inclusion and economic recovery, contributing to the overall mission of DRC in enhancing the well-being of communities in Mandera.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Economic Recovery Assistant will manage a cluster of assigned Community Savings & Loans Associations (CSLAs), overseeing the planning and implementation of economic recovery and financial inclusion activities. Responsibilities include community mobilization, training of CSLAs on entrepreneurship, Sharia-compliant financing, and financial literacy. The assistant will also train entrepreneurs on group dynamics and conflict management, ensuring adherence to Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) in project implementation. Additional duties include submitting timely reports, supporting project closure activities, and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including community members, NGOs, and government agencies. The assistant will also contribute to budget management by drafting spending and procurement plans and ensuring compliance with financial procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of field experience in implementing economic recovery or livelihoods programs within an international NGO or relevant agency. Experience in financial inclusion interventions and models, such as CSLAs, microfinance, and Sharia-compliant financing, is highly desirable. Strong technical skills in financial inclusion programming, capacity building for micro-enterprises, and working with both informal and formal financial institutions are essential. Candidates should possess good planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also required, along with experience in business mentorship and coaching.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Microfinance, or Community Development is required for this position. Candidates should demonstrate fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili, with knowledge of local languages spoken in the project area considered an advantage.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant field experience in economic recovery or livelihoods programs, particularly within an international NGO context. Candidates should have experience in financial inclusion models and interventions, as well as a demonstrated ability to work with community financial structures and digital service providers.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Swahili is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Somali or other local languages spoken in the project area is considered a plus, enhancing communication with community members and stakeholders.

The contract duration for this position is 5 months, with a salary and other conditions offered in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment. The duty station is in Mandera County, and the position is expected to be available starting February 202
