Job Overview: The Supply Chain Management (SCM) Senior Associate will play a crucial role in leading data collection and program coordination for CHAI’s Malaria Case Management Commodity Backstop Fund. This position involves direct collaboration with CHAI country teams and government partners across several countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Mali, and Malawi. The Senior Associate will be responsible for collecting and analyzing procurement order and stock level data for malaria commodities, comparing these with data from international donors to identify potential stock outs. The role requires a proactive approach to assess stock outs against the Backstop Fund's criteria and manage emergency procurements effectively. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate resourcefulness, independence, and a commitment to producing results while managing multiple tasks and making sound decisions based on data analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the SCM Senior Associate include:
Collaborating with government partners, CHAI country teams, and other stakeholders to compile stock level data from logistics management information systems and identify national stock gaps for malaria treatments and RDTs.
Reconciling country stock and order data with global data sources on commodity procurement.
Engaging with National Malaria Programs and other stakeholders to gather necessary stock and supply planning data in countries without a CHAI office.
Working closely with manufacturers and freight forwarders to evaluate bids and agree on shipping terms and delivery timelines.
Preparing in-country stakeholders for receiving commodities and establishing supply chain monitoring and evaluation indicators to track progress and impact of emergency procurements.
Supporting country staff in developing distribution plans for purchased supplies as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in health, public policy, health economics, or supply chain management, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in public health, health commodities management, health strategy consulting, or a related field. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential, along with exceptional analytical and communication skills. The ability to think strategically, work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Candidates should also be willing to travel up to 25%-40% as needed and demonstrate a strong work ethic and dedication to CHAI’s mission.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree with a focus on health, public policy, health economics, or supply chain management is required. An advanced degree such as an MPH or MS in Public Health, Health Economics, or Supply Chain Management is considered an advantage.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in public health, health commodities management, health strategy consulting, or a public sector advisory position. Experience working in an international context or entrepreneurial environment is highly desirable, as is experience in high-risk, developing settings.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Advanced written and spoken French language skills are considered an advantage, especially for roles involving communication with French-speaking stakeholders.
