Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Designer Volunteer at the Southern Africa Embrace Foundation involves collaborating with the social media team to create visually appealing graphics that will be used across the organization's social media platforms. The selected volunteers will be responsible for producing six graphics per week, which may include flyers, posters, brochures, and banners that effectively communicate the foundation's mission and initiatives. Volunteers will receive content from the social media team to work with and will be expected to revise graphics based on feedback from the team lead. This role is crucial for enhancing the organization's online presence and ensuring that its messaging is visually engaging and impactful. Additionally, volunteers must be available for weekly team meetings held on Wednesdays at 10 am EST to discuss progress and receive guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the social media team to design graphics for various platforms, including flyers, posters, brochures, and banners.
  • Produce a minimum of six graphics per week, ensuring they align with the organization's mission and branding.
  • Revise and edit graphics based on feedback from the social media team lead to meet approval standards.
  • Attend weekly team meetings to discuss ongoing projects, receive feedback, and align on upcoming tasks.
  • Utilize provided content effectively to create engaging and informative graphics that resonate with the target audience.
  • Stay updated on design trends and best practices to enhance the quality of graphics produced.
  • Maintain open communication with the social media team to ensure timely delivery of graphics and adherence to deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout.
  • Ability to create visually appealing and effective graphics that communicate messages clearly.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with the social media team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Previous experience in graphic design, whether through education or practical projects, is preferred but not mandatory.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with relevant skills and experience may also be considered regardless of formal education. A portfolio showcasing previous design work is highly desirable to demonstrate capability and creativity.

Experience:
While previous experience in graphic design is preferred, it is not strictly required. Candidates with a strong portfolio and relevant skills will be considered. This role is suitable for individuals looking to gain experience in a non-profit environment and contribute to meaningful social causes through their design work.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and content will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.
