Job Overview: The Project Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the effective implementation of operational, administrative, procurement, and financial processes within the Area-Based Recovery (ABR) Projects. This position requires full compliance with UNDP's programming, financial, procurement, and administrative rules and regulations. The incumbent is expected to contribute proactively to the day-to-day project implementation, ensuring that all activities conform to expected results and project work plans. The role involves preparing background materials for discussions, drafting meeting minutes, and ensuring efficient travel arrangements for the project team. The Project Associate will also assist in recruitment processes and maintain essential records, thereby facilitating smooth project operations and compliance with UNDP policies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Associate's duties include providing project management assistance by supporting administrative, operational, and logistical processes. This involves ensuring compliance with UNDP's Programme and Operations Policies and Procedures (POPP), preparing relevant background materials, drafting meeting minutes, and ensuring efficient travel arrangements. The incumbent will assist in financial, procurement, and human resources processes, including managing project financial resources, supporting procurement plans, and preparing various project reports. Additionally, the Project Associate will facilitate knowledge building and management by adhering to project timelines, organizing events, and synthesizing lessons learned. The role may also include other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess either Secondary Education or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Social Sciences, or a related discipline. A minimum of seven years of experience in administration or project management assistance is required for those with Secondary Education, while four years of experience is necessary for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages is essential, and experience in UN/UNDP or international organizations is desired. Skills in organizing events and financial reporting for donors are also advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes Secondary Education as a minimum requirement. A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or Social Sciences is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with higher educational qualifications may be given due consideration during the selection process.
Experience: The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of seven years for candidates with Secondary Education or four years for those with a Bachelor’s degree.
