The FJDI (Foundation for Justice, Development and Integrity) is an organization dedicated to working with children, youth, women, and communities in northern Uganda. Its mission is to promote justice, development, and economic recovery in a region that has faced significant challenges due to conflict. Established to address the long-term impacts of the conflict in northern Uganda, FJDI advocates for the redress of human rights violations and atrocities committed during this period. The organization implements sustainable development initiatives and promotes economic empowerment through various livelihood programs. FJDI believes in a holistic approach to justice, which integrates judicial mechanisms of redress with development and economic empowerment for victims. The organization has been active in the region, focusing on peace-building, post-conflict recovery, and governance, particularly with the support of international partners such as the International Development Law Organization (IDLO).

Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Designer at FJDI involves providing graphic design services for the finalization of the organization's annual report for the year 202
  • The report has already been drafted, and the selected volunteer will be responsible for enhancing its visual appeal. This includes inserting relevant photographs, designing a cover and back page, and applying a professional finishing touch to the document. The designer will have the flexibility to use graphic design software of their choice to achieve the desired outcome. This role is crucial as the final report will be published on FJDI's website, serving as a key communication tool to showcase the organization's activities and impact over the year. The graphic designer will need to ensure that the report is visually engaging and aligns with FJDI's branding and mission, effectively communicating the organization's achievements and future goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review the drafted annual report for 2025 to understand its content and key messages.
  • Select and insert relevant photographs that complement the text and enhance the overall presentation of the report.
  • Design an attractive cover page that reflects the essence of FJDI's mission and the theme of the report.
  • Create a visually appealing back page that includes necessary information and aligns with the front cover design.
  • Utilize graphic design software to apply professional finishing touches to the report, ensuring high-quality visuals and layout.
  • Collaborate with FJDI staff to incorporate feedback and make necessary adjustments to the design.
  • Ensure that the final report is formatted correctly for publication on the FJDI website.
  • Meet deadlines for the completion of the design work to ensure timely publication of the report.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of design principles, including layout, color theory, and typography.
  • Ability to create visually appealing designs that effectively communicate messages.
  • Experience in designing reports, brochures, or similar materials is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with FJDI staff and incorporate feedback.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field is preferred. Formal education in design is an advantage, but practical experience and a strong portfolio demonstrating design skills can also be considered.

Experience:
Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in creating reports or similar publications, is highly desirable. The candidate should have a proven track record of delivering high-quality design work within set deadlines.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as the report will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not required for this position.
