Job Overview: The Storekeeper (Spare Parts) position is crucial within the Logistics Special Operations (LSO) team at WFP. The role involves managing and safeguarding a variety of items essential for fleet maintenance, including spare parts for trucks, lubricants, tyres, workshop tools, and consumables. The Storekeeper will ensure that all materials required for operational safety and maintenance are available and properly managed. This position requires a hands-on understanding of automotive and mechanical systems, as it is not related to non-food item management or general warehouse management. The Storekeeper will work closely with the Workshop Manager to contribute to the efficient operation of the parts store and support the overall functionality of the workshop, ensuring that all items are accurately registered and organized for easy access and tracking.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Storekeeper (Spare Parts) will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties including: managing and maintaining inventory of spare parts, lubricants, tyres, batteries, workshop tools, and consumables; ensuring accurate registration of all items in the Fleet Management System (FMS); organizing and storing items correctly on stock shelves; reporting regularly on stock levels to the Workshop Manager; receiving and inspecting incoming parts and supplies; verifying incoming goods against purchase orders; assisting customers in identifying and selecting appropriate spare parts; maintaining accurate records of inventory and sales; preparing and maintaining various records related to store activities; ensuring compliance with safety regulations; keeping the store clean and organized; conducting routine stock checks and audits; collaborating with suppliers for timely delivery of parts; and performing any other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess proven stock management skills, including categorization and accurate record-keeping. A strong knowledge of spare parts, lubricants, tools, and consumables is essential, along with familiarity with different specifications based on truck brands and models. Candidates should have familiarity with inventory management software and basic computer skills, as well as good customer service skills to assist customers in identifying and selecting the right parts. The role requires fluency in both English and Arabic, with a level C proficiency in oral and written communication.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate is desirable, along with additional certifications in inventory and parts management or related functional areas.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in auto mechanics, maintenance and repairs of light vehicles and trucks/machineries, and spare parts management. This experience should demonstrate technical knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory, with a level C proficiency in oral and written communication. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.
Additional Notes: The position is a Service Contract at Level 4, with a duration of 12 months that is renewable.
