Job Overview: The Movement Operations Coordinator in Sudan will oversee all movement operations activities within the country, ensuring that the organized movement of persons needing international migration assistance is conducted efficiently and ethically. This role involves supervising multiple teams engaged in various aspects of movement operations, including field support, data processing, and compliance. The coordinator will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Head of Programmes, ensuring that all operations align with IOM's standards and guidelines. The position requires a strong focus on staff development, quality service delivery, and effective communication with stakeholders, including government officials and partner organizations. The coordinator will also be responsible for managing airport assistance, transit centers, and transportation logistics, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a safe and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Movement Operations Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including overseeing up to seven teams involved in movement operations activities. Key duties include supporting staff development processes such as hiring, training, and performance feedback; managing airport assistance for individuals arriving and departing in Sudan; ensuring compliance with IOM's Standard Operating Procedures; overseeing the coordination of transportation and special needs for individuals; managing financial paperwork; and liaising with airlines and external partners. The coordinator will also supervise the handling of sensitive cases, ensure quality assurance procedures are followed, and prepare regular reports on movement operations activities. Additionally, the coordinator will maintain confidentiality and integrity of all relevant paperwork and alert management of any non-compliance with IOM policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with five years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a University degree in the aforementioned fields with seven years of relevant experience is acceptable. Prior experience in Movement Operations, particularly with IOM, is highly preferred, along with transportation-related and management experience. Knowledge of IOM's operational programs and administrative practices is desirable, as well as strong communication skills and proficiency in relevant software applications.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, or Law. Candidates with a University degree in these fields must have additional years of relevant professional experience to qualify. The educational qualifications are critical as they provide the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of migration operations and management.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have significant experience in movement operations, ideally within IOM or similar organizations. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is necessary for those with a Master's degree, while candidates with a University degree must have at least seven years of experience. Experience in transportation management and knowledge of IOM's operational frameworks and practices are considered strong advantages. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both oral and written. Additional Notes: The position is classified as a Special Short Term contract, with an initial duration of three months and the possibility of extension, depending on funding and organizational needs.
