The position of Deputy Project Director is contingent upon funding from the Department of State.

Job Overview:
The Deputy Project Director (DPD) will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Director in the planning, coordination, execution, and oversight of the EpiC Bangladesh project activities. As the second-in-command for the project, the DPD will ensure that technical, programmatic, and operational functions are integrated and executed efficiently. This position requires a strong leadership presence to manage stakeholder relationships, supervise sub-awardees, ensure compliance with donor requirements, and support adaptive management to achieve project objectives, particularly in the areas of Global Health Security (GHS), Maternal and Child Health (MCH), and Nutrition. The DPD will be responsible for overseeing the development and execution of work planning, budgeting, and performance frameworks in collaboration with technical leads and partners, while also monitoring project implementation to ensure alignment with donor guidelines and national policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Project Director will have a wide range of responsibilities including: assisting the Project Director in leading and coordinating day-to-day project implementation across all technical areas and geographic regions; overseeing the development and execution of work planning, budgeting, and performance frameworks; monitoring project implementation to ensure alignment with donor guidelines and national policies; facilitating integrated delivery of interventions across GHS, MCH, and nutrition components; providing technical input and guidance to ensure high-quality, evidence-based interventions; supporting institutional capacity building of government counterparts and civil society partners; tracking progress against project indicators and targets; identifying implementation bottlenecks and leading timely adaptive management; supervising and mentoring program and operations staff; supporting recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of staff; ensuring compliance with organizational policies and US Department of State Government regulations; maintaining strong liaison with stakeholders; representing the project in technical working groups and donor meetings; and managing sub-awardees to ensure quality implementation and compliance with project goals and donor requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field, with a medical degree (MBBS) being an added advantage. A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in managing health projects is required, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role. Proven experience in Risk Communication and Community Engagement, maternal and child health, nutrition, outbreak preparedness, and community mobilization is essential. Candidates should also have demonstrated experience working with the US Department of State Government or other international donors, along with familiarity with their rules and regulations. Strong knowledge of social behavior change and community-based health programming is necessary, as well as excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Communication, International Development, or a related field. An MBBS or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is considered an advantage, highlighting the importance of advanced education in health-related fields for this role.

Experience:
The position requires a significant level of experience, specifically a minimum of 10 years in managing health projects. Out of these, at least 5 years should be in a leadership or senior management role, indicating the need for a seasoned professional who can navigate complex project environments and lead teams effectively.
