Job Overview:
The Project Associate position is integral to the support activities for the national asylum institution in Turkey, specifically under the EU-funded project titled 'Supporting Türkiye’s International and Temporary Protection Processes.' This role involves enhancing the technical capacity of the Presidency of Migration Management (PMM) staff through various initiatives such as training sessions, workshops, and the development of guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Project Associate will also provide operational support, including the renovation of centers where data updates and International Protection Status Determination (IPSD) procedures are conducted. The position requires close coordination between UNHCR and PMM to ensure the effective implementation of project activities, and the incumbent will be seconded to PMM to facilitate this collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Associate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining productive partnerships with PMM by identifying their needs and aligning them with appropriate solutions for project implementation. The role includes ensuring the continuity of project information flow and maintaining institutional records, making materials such as meeting notes and participant information easily accessible to both UNHCR and PMM. Additionally, the Project Associate will support the coordination of meetings between UNHCR and the national asylum authority throughout the various stages of project activities, including preparation, implementation, and reporting. Other duties may be assigned as required, and the incumbent will receive guidance from the Senior Protection Officer and direct supervision from the Associate Protection Officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Political Science, Law, English Literature, Translation and Interpreting, or a related field. For those with a High School Diploma, a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher. The position demands strong research and analytical thinking skills, effective planning and organizing abilities, and proficiency in stakeholder management and resource management. Excellent knowledge of Turkish and fluency in English are mandatory, while knowledge of additional UN languages is desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in fields such as Political Science, Law, English Literature, Translation and Interpreting, or other related disciplines. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of international protection and asylum processes.

Experience:
The position requires relevant work experience, specifically 3 years with a High School Diploma or 2 years with a Bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates should have experience in roles that involve coordination, project management, and support within the context of international protection and asylum processes, ideally within a UN or humanitarian framework.

Languages:
Fluency in Turkish and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any other UN language is considered an asset and would be beneficial for the role, particularly in facilitating communication and understanding within a diverse working environment.
