Job Overview: The Communications Consultant position is designed to support the UN Armenia's mission by enhancing the effectiveness, reach, and impact of its communication strategies for the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for the period of 2026-203
The consultant will bring expertise and fresh perspectives to help the UN engage with diverse global audiences, manage complex narratives, and ensure coherent messaging across multiple platforms. The primary objectives include developing and implementing an effective communication strategy for the UNSDCF, enhancing visibility and outreach to key stakeholders, and ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging across all channels. The role is crucial for enhancing public awareness, improving stakeholder engagement, supporting global campaigns, and applying data-driven insights for better adaptability and innovation. The expected duration of the contract is from January 7, 2026, to December 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key tasks for the Communications Consultant include:
Preparing and implementing a joint communications strategy for the UNSDCF and SDG acceleration.
Supporting donor coordination forum platform engagements.
Assisting in the coordination efforts of the UN Communications Group (UNCG) in alignment with the joint UN Armenia communication strategy on SDG mainstreaming.
Producing high-quality joint communication products and campaigns that adhere to corporate standards.
Organizing joint UN public events and campaigns, including digital initiatives, to profile the UN’s support and advocate for key issues related to the 2030 Agenda and the UNSDCF in Armenia. The consultant will also provide support to the UN Country Team (UNCT), UNCG, and Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in preparing communication products, ensuring clarity, comprehensiveness, and consistency in news flow according to UN communication planning and priorities. Additionally, the consultant will be responsible for producing monthly or quarterly newsletters that highlight the key achievements of UN Armenia, ensuring clarity, accuracy, relevance, and engaging narratives in all materials produced by the country communications teams.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree in Public Relations and Communications, Public Administration, Public Relations, Social MediaMarketing, or a related field. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in journalism, communications, or related fields. A solid background in communications, marketing, journalism, and digital communication is essential. Excellent writing, editorial, and presentation skills are mandatory, along with a proven track record in producing communication materials, including social media posts, brochures, and flyers. Good knowledge of communication principles and multimedia is required, as well as familiarity with digital media, websites, and social media platforms, particularly Facebook and X. Previous communications experience with the UN or similar organizations is highly desirable. The ability to work in teams and adapt to a flexible working environment is crucial, as is an in-depth understanding of target audiences and expertise in high-impact messaging to global audiences.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Public Relations and Communications, Public Administration, Public Relations, or Social Media Marketing. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively develop and implement communication strategies that align with the UN's objectives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in journalism, communications, or related fields. This experience should encompass a solid understanding of communications, marketing, journalism, and digital communication. Candidates should have a proven ability to produce high-quality communication materials and engage effectively with diverse audiences, demonstrating a strong record of accomplishment in their previous roles.
Languages: Fluency in Armenian and English is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with stakeholders and for producing high-quality communication materials that resonate with both local and global audiences.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is twelve months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The position is full-time, and the UN emphasizes that it does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring a transparent and fair hiring process.
