Job Overview:
The Consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the capacities of Armenian authorities in border security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and crime prevention. This position involves developing a comprehensive training module on Applied Psychology tailored for border guards, ensuring that the content aligns with international standards and the EU Sectoral Qualifications Framework. The consultant will be responsible for creating educational materials that address various psychological aspects relevant to border management, such as guiding individuals with challenging behaviors, understanding the influence of substances on behavior, and managing stress in critical situations. The consultant will also be tasked with delivering training sessions to educators, thereby ensuring that the knowledge is effectively disseminated and applied within the border guard training framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop a training module on Applied Psychology that includes job competencies and learning outcomes aligned with international standards and the EU Sectoral Qualifications Framework for Border Guarding, ensuring a gender-sensitive approach.
  • Recommend and describe teaching and assessment methods for each topic within the module, preparing quizzes and exam questions as necessary.
  • Submit the developed module to IOM by the deadline of March 31, 202
  • Conduct a training of trainers (ToT) for the lecturers of the Scientific Educational Centre in May 202
  • Perform pre- and post-assessments to evaluate the knowledge change of trainees.
  • Collaborate with the IOM project team to ensure that all tasks are completed in accordance with agreed approaches and standards.
  • Ensure that training materials comply with best practices in adult learning and andragogy, providing resources for future knowledge and skills development for trainees.
  • Meet all deadlines and performance indicators set for the project.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completed advanced university degree in a relevant field.
  • Specialization in border management or related areas.
  • At least five years of experience in professional thematic consultancy, particularly in developing curricula and training modules.
  • Proven experience in delivering training of trainers (ToTs) and working with international organizations or government structures.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering training sessions effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in a relevant field, which may include psychology, education, or a related discipline that supports the development of training modules for border management. Additional formal education relevant to the assignment will be considered an asset.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in thematic consultancy, particularly in the areas of border management and training development. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing curricula and training modules, as well as experience in delivering training sessions and ToTs. Familiarity with international organizations and government structures is essential for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both oral and written. Knowledge of Russian is considered an advantage, as IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

The consultancy is subject to funding confirmation and the candidate's medical fitness for appointment. IOM covers consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan, but does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses.
