Job Overview:
The Program Trainee position is based in Tunis and is designed to support the DRC Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia country program. The primary focus of this role is to enhance the implementation of ongoing protection, peacebuilding, and economic recovery initiatives. The trainee will engage in various tasks, including data collection and analysis, reviewing programmatic reports, and contributing to communication, visibility, and advocacy efforts. This role presents a unique opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in the humanitarian sector, particularly in areas related to protection. The position is managed by the Head of Programme and involves close collaboration with the program team, providing a supportive environment for professional growth and development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The main duties and responsibilities of the Program Trainee include:
  • Contributing to programmatic analysis by ensuring that analyses are high-quality, well-written, and delivered on time, in accordance with DRC requirements, with guidance from the program team.
  • Supporting the analysis of protection monitoring data across Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia.
  • Assisting in drafting reports related to protection, economic recovery, and peacebuilding analyses.
  • Supporting advocacy initiatives based on firsthand data collected by DRC.
  • Leading the development of communication and visibility materials derived from program data for external use, including social media posts and other communications.
  • Engaging in teamwork and collaboration with colleagues to achieve program objectives effectively.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A post-graduate degree (Bachelor's or Master's) from a recognized university in Social Science, International or Development Studies, or related fields.
  • Previous experience in research is required.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities are necessary.
  • A demonstrated ability to adapt, take initiative, and work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • A strong ethical framework and commitment to integrity in the workplace.
  • Engagement with an NGO or civil society is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and online tools is required. 1
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multinational and multicultural setting.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a post-graduate degree (Bachelor's or Master's) from a recognized university in relevant fields such as Social Science, International Studies, Development Studies, or similar disciplines. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the specific challenges faced by displaced populations.

Experience:
The position requires previous experience in the field of research, which is essential for conducting programmatic analyses and drafting reports. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of research methodologies and the ability to analyze data effectively. Experience working in humanitarian settings or with NGOs is advantageous but not mandatory.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communications and reports will be conducted in English. Additionally, proficiency in French and/or Arabic is considered an advantage, as it may enhance communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is for a duration of 12 months, with the designation of a family duty station. The expected start date for the role is 1st February 202
