Job Overview:
The Grants Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Grants Manager in the effective management of grants throughout the project cycle. This includes responsibilities such as preparing reports, developing proposals, and monitoring ongoing projects to ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal procedures. The Grants Officer is expected to maintain up-to-date records of grants, facilitate communication between various teams, and ensure that all stakeholders have access to necessary information. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, capable of working under pressure, and eager to learn and adapt to new challenges. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Officer will be responsible for implementing the delegated function portfolio according to the action plan, ensuring proper filing of documents, and promoting technical improvements. They will provide an internal help-desk for donor-related issues and support internal capacity building. The officer will maintain an overview of all grants, including tracking donor rules and regulations, and ensuring compliance with internal and external deadlines. Specific responsibilities include supporting the development of donor reports and proposals, ensuring consistency between narrative and financial reports, and maintaining an organized grants filing system. The officer will also update the internal grants tracker, assist in scheduling coordination meetings, and take minutes while following up on action points. All grants-related decisions and communications will be reviewed by the Grants Manager before submission to donors or external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, humanities, quantitative/qualitative research methods, public health, or a related field. They should be fluent in both English and Arabic, with strong written and spoken communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, is essential. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in social work, research, community development, or non-governmental organizations. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in complex and volatile contexts and possess strong analytical and communication skills.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, public health, or quantitative/qualitative research methods is required. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of grant management and project cycle management in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience. This experience should ideally be in social work, research, community development, or within non-governmental organizations. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in complex and volatile environments, demonstrating their ability to adapt and thrive under challenging conditions.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, both in written and spoken forms. This bilingual requirement is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including donors and local communities. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
