The intern will work closely with the Chief of Section and the External Relations Officer, contributing to the development of communication materials that highlight the impact of UNVTF's work and the efforts of its grantees. This role involves managing digital communications, including social media content and website updates, which are crucial for promoting the Fund's initiatives and engaging with stakeholders. The intern will also assist in the Call for Proposals process, ensuring that applications are screened and shortlisted effectively. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a UN agency and to contribute to meaningful projects that support victims of trafficking.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting the development of communication materials such as print products, articles, and video scripts to showcase UNVTF's impact.
  • Gathering content from grantees and civil society partners to produce compelling stories and case examples.
  • Managing digital communications, including drafting and scheduling social media posts and maintaining the UNVTF website.
  • Assisting in the full cycle of the UNVTF Call for Proposals, including preparation of Terms of Reference, application screening, and coordination of the launch.
  • Tracking grantee progress and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Serving as a point of contact for grantees, providing guidance on procedures and standards.
  • Coordinating administrative tasks such as travel arrangements and meeting scheduling.
  • Maintaining accurate records of correspondence and agreements.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of UNVTF events by providing logistical and administrative support. 1
  • Drafting and editing project reports and donor correspondence.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have recently completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Additionally, applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. A personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter is essential, as is the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program, or have recently completed such programs. A field of study closely related to the internship is required, and applicants must provide proof of their educational status.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This could include experience in communications, international relations, social sciences, or related fields.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an advantage, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Additional Notes:
This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days (40 hours) per week. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.
