Job Overview:
The Nurse in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to UN staff and beneficiaries. This position is vital for maintaining the operational efficiency of the Health Care Center, promoting a culture of medical excellence, and supporting the overall mission of the UN by ensuring a healthy workforce. The Nurse will be responsible for responding to medical emergencies, providing first-line treatment, and ensuring that all interventions are documented accurately. The role requires collaboration with other clinical leads and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive care and support during emergencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Nurse is expected to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism. Key responsibilities include: responding promptly to emergency calls during off-duty hours, organizing ambulance transport and referrals, attending to medical emergencies on the UN compound, providing medical coverage for conferences and official events, serving as a replacement for regular nursing staff, documenting all interventions and incident details accurately, and participating in emergency preparedness drills. The Nurse will also contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the EOC, ensuring that the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from a recognized university and have national registration. A valid certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support or equivalent emergency training is mandatory. An advanced university degree in Emergency Medicine is considered an advantage. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of relevant emergency nursing experience, with work experience in an international organization being a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from a recognized institution. Candidates must also hold valid certifications in Basic and Advanced Life Support or equivalent emergency training. An advanced degree in Emergency Medicine is advantageous and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant emergency nursing experience. Candidates with experience working in international organizations will have an advantage, as this experience is valuable in understanding the unique challenges and dynamics of providing healthcare in a multinational context.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English is required for this role, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered an advantage, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse UN environment.

The working hours for the Nurse will be during off-duty hours based on a shift working arrangement at the Clinic.
