Job Overview:
The Nurse position at UNRWA is crucial for delivering healthcare services to Palestine refugees. The incumbent will report directly to the Senior Staff Nurse at the assigned Health Centre and will be responsible for a variety of nursing activities that encompass child health, school health, mental health, and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS). The role includes conducting screenings for gender-based violence (GBV) and disabilities, assisting with dental care, and providing non-communicable disease (NCD) services, including follow-ups for patients who have defaulted on treatment. The nurse will also conduct home visits for high-risk cases, maintain accurate records of supplies, uphold infection control standards, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Additionally, the nurse will utilize electronic medical records for data entry and participate in training activities. This position requires a proactive approach to healthcare delivery and a commitment to the well-being of the community served.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Nurse include:
  • Performing nursing activities related to child health, school health, MHPSS, and screening for GBV and disabilities.
  • Assisting with dental care and providing NCD services, including follow-ups for patients who have defaulted on treatment.
  • Conducting home visits for high-risk cases, such as growth-retarded, anemic, bedridden, or disabled patients, and those with uncontrolled NCDs.
  • Keeping accurate records of supplies used in nursing activities at the assigned station.
  • Maintaining high standards of infection control to ensure the safety of both staff and clients.
  • Complying with safety and health regulations to ensure a healthy work environment.
  • Providing services through the electronic medical records system, including data entry and proper documentation.
  • Participating in training activities and on-the-job training as required.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Nurse position include:
  • Successful completion of secondary school education.
  • A two-year diploma from an accredited educational institution in nursing.
  • A valid license to practice nursing services, where applicable.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in using computers and understanding their application in health services.

Additional Notes:
The Nurse position is a daily paid assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need. The grade for this position is HL01, with a daily rate of 23.48 USD. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. This vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in Syria are eligible to apply.
