Job Overview: The position of Casual Worker (Assisting in MEAL Works) involves supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) functions within the North Area office of DRC. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection activities in the field, which are essential for needs assessments and monitoring across DRC's operational areas in the North, including Aleppo, Hama, Homs, and Idleb. The role requires collaboration with various departments to ensure effective data collection and adherence to DRC's accountability principles. The casual worker will also assist in data entry, cleaning, and archiving, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of DRC's programming.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Casual Worker include:
Monitoring: Conducting quantitative and qualitative data collection activities in the field for needs assessments and monitoring across DRC's operational areas.
Data Management: Supporting data entry using tools like KOBO and ODK, ensuring data is cleaned and archived appropriately.
Coordination: Regularly coordinating with the PDQ department in the Country Office and Management and Programme departments in the North Area Office regarding data collection work plans and priorities.
Accountability: Ensuring that activities and services comply with DRC's accountability principles and contributing to raising awareness of DRC’s Community Feedback Mechanism during data collection.
Additional MEAL duties as requested by the Area Manager or PDQM.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 years of experience in data collection and cleaning. Candidates should possess good interpersonal skills, enabling effective communication and negotiation at all levels. Flexibility and a willingness to adapt work practices and hours, especially in insecure environments, are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and email communication, is required. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work respectfully in a multicultural environment. Self-motivation and a results-oriented approach are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a university or technical institute degree in fields such as Economics, Administration, Business Management, Finance, International Relations, Development Studies, Computer Science, or a related discipline, along with relevant years of experience in the field.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in data collection and cleaning. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in similar roles, demonstrating their ability to handle data effectively and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.
Languages: Fluency in Arabic, both written and spoken, is essential for this position. Basic proficiency in English is preferred, allowing for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders.
