Job Overview:
The Medical Officer position at UNRWA involves providing essential healthcare services to Palestine refugees. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering general outpatient services, including specialized care in maternal and child health, managing non-communicable diseases, and facilitating hospital referrals as necessary. The role also includes participating in the training and development of other healthcare staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care. The Medical Officer may be required to cover for other medical officers during their absence, which may involve working in different health centers. This position is crucial in maintaining the health and well-being of the refugee population, and the incumbent is expected to perform additional duties as required by the agency's policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Medical Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Providing comprehensive outpatient medical services to patients, ensuring that all care is delivered in accordance with UNRWA's policies and procedures.
• Offering specialized services in maternal and child health, as well as managing chronic conditions and non-communicable diseases.
• Coordinating hospital referrals for patients requiring advanced medical care.
• Engaging in the training and mentorship of healthcare staff, contributing to their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices in patient care.
• Filling in for absent medical officers, which may involve working at different health centers as needed.
• Performing any other duties as assigned by the Head of the Health Centre or other supervisory personnel, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the agency's mission.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a medical degree from an accredited institution, which includes a minimum of twelve months of internship experience. Additionally, a valid governmental license to practice medicine in Syria is required. The position demands a strong commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services to a vulnerable population, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team environment. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in standard medical practices and possess the necessary skills to manage outpatient services effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include a medical degree from a recognized and accredited educational institution. Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a Daily Paid Assignment, with an initial contract duration of up to three months. There is a possibility of extension based on the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and ongoing need for the role. The daily rate for this position is set at 38.69 USD. Employees will receive one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. It is important to note that only candidates residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station, with authorization to work in Syria at the time of application, are eligible to apply. The agency will not facilitate work permits, and candidates must have a valid permit to be considered for employment.
