Job Overview: The position of UNV Graphic Design and Communication Specialist is crucial for enhancing the production of graphic materials, digital campaigns, and communication content within the IOM in Peru. This role is essential for ensuring effective institutional communication aligned with the mission's objectives and aimed at promoting a positive narrative about migration in the country. The specialist will be responsible for developing graphic products and designs based on requests from various thematic areas of the organization, meeting with stakeholders to determine design styles and deadlines, and creating digital campaigns that highlight the contributions and positive impacts of refugees and migrants in Peru. The role requires a passion for design, creativity, and strong communication skills to interpret and negotiate design projects with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UNV will undertake a variety of tasks under delegated authority and supervision, including:
Development of graphic products and designs: - Create designs based on requests from thematic areas. - Meet with requesting areas to determine style and deadlines. - Design digital campaigns aimed at promoting the benefits of refugees and migrants in Peru. - Incorporate feedback from units into final designs. - Create visual elements such as logos, illustrations, and creative messages. - Present design concepts and proposals for social media improvements. - Support content creation for the organization's social media. - Review designs for errors before publication or printing. - Diagram editorial products like infographics and brochures creatively.
Communications: - Manage IOM Peru's social media and ensure consistency in messaging. - Contribute to internal and external communication content, including life stories and newsletters. - Support the design and implementation of digital communication strategies. - Assist in planning and covering events related to the mission's projects. - Prepare reports and documents related to program coordination.
Provide efficient and quality support to IOM and its beneficiaries, including daily updates of digital content and managing social media profiles.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong graphic design skills, proficiency in design software, and a solid understanding of communication strategies. They should demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Strong communication skills are essential for interpreting design requests and negotiating project details with stakeholders. Additionally, candidates should have a genuine commitment to the principles of volunteering, including solidarity and compassion.
Educational Background: A degree in Graphic Design, Communication, or a related field is required. Candidates should have a strong portfolio showcasing their design work and experience in creating visual content for various platforms.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of experience in graphic design and communication roles, preferably within non-profit organizations or international agencies. Experience in managing social media platforms and creating digital content is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered an asset. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.
Additional Notes: The position is a full-time volunteer role, and candidates must not have any employment ties with other entities during their assignment.
