Job Overview:
The Education Project Manager will play a crucial role in the implementation of the Education project portfolio for the NRC's Area Office in Bangladesh. This position requires a leader who is influential, diplomatic, and collaborative, with strong negotiation and communication skills. The role involves overseeing the development and execution of education strategies and projects, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational goals. The manager will be responsible for technical direction, project quality assurance, budget management, and people leadership, including staff recruitment, mentorship, and capacity building. The position also entails stakeholder management and fostering constructive relationships with external parties, making it essential for the candidate to have a strong background in humanitarian contexts and education programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Project Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop and implement education strategies and project plans in accordance with NRC's objectives and donor requirements.
  • Oversee the execution of education projects, ensuring high-quality implementation of activities, adherence to budgets, and proper documentation.
  • Provide technical direction and quality assurance for education projects, ensuring they meet the needs of beneficiaries and comply with best practices.
  • Manage project budgets, including development, monitoring, and reporting on financial performance.
  • Lead and mentor project staff, fostering a collaborative team environment and providing training and capacity-building opportunities.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including local authorities, community leaders, and other partners, to ensure effective project implementation and coordination.
  • Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, making adjustments as necessary to improve effectiveness and impact.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals and reports for donors and other stakeholders, highlighting project achievements and challenges.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven experience in senior project implementation within a humanitarian or recovery context, with a focus on education and vocational training programs.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget management and leadership expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale up programming in complex and volatile environments.
  • Familiarity with the context of Bangladesh, particularly in relation to the Rohingya refugee crisis and the impacts of climate change.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in education, social sciences, international development, or a related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in project management or humanitarian response may be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience in project management, particularly in the education sector within humanitarian settings. A track record of working in complex emergencies, particularly in Bangladesh or similar contexts, is highly desirable. Experience in leading teams and managing budgets is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Bengali or other local languages would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, with a contract duration of 12 months. The role may require approximately 40% travel within the region.
