Job Overview:
As the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director of Program Operations, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and supporting project implementation across various sites in Vanuatu. This full-time position requires a blend of technical proficiency, project operation experience, and strong relationship-building skills. You will lead a dedicated team, guiding and mentoring them to enhance the welfare of children and vulnerable communities. Your responsibilities will include managing office operations, overseeing project management, budget oversight, and providing technical guidance. You will be instrumental in ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations, aligning strategies with Save The Children's mission and goals, and actively participating in strategic planning and execution.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Project Operation and Management: Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations, optimizing resources, and implementing strategies in alignment with Save The Children's mission and goals.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Participate in the formulation and implementation of strategic plans to ensure consistency with organizational objectives.
  • Community Engagement and Partnerships: Establish robust relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Uphold program quality and compliance by ensuring strict adherence to policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and nurture a high-performing team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Contribute to the design and implementation of robust monitoring and evaluation systems to facilitate data-driven decision-making and program refinement.
  • Adaptability and Innovation: Approach problem-solving proactively, identifying inventive solutions, and adjusting strategies to effectively address evolving challenges.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong project and operation management skills, with a solid understanding of program implementation.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Skills to recruit, train, and develop staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Strong operational management, project management, and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.
  • Understanding of local context, including cultural, social, and economic factors.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in social sciences, international development, project management, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in project management or related areas would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management and operations, preferably in a non-profit or international development context. Proven experience in leading teams and managing budgets is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Vanuatu would be an advantage but is not required.

This is a full-time contractual role based in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
